Britney charged with hit and run

The bad news continues for Britney Spears. The singer was charged Friday with one count of hit and run causing property damage and one count of driving without a valid California driver's license, according to the LA City Attorney's office. Each misdemeanor charge, stemming from a fender-bender in an LA parking lot on August 6, carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail. When asked in what state Spears might have a valid driver's license, a city attorney spokesperson replied, "Not in California," but refused to confirm whether the popstar possesses a valid license in her home state of Louisiana. "According to DMV records in California, no license has ever been issued to her," the spokesperson said. Spears is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on October 10. On Friday afternoon, Spears was spotted fighting tears as she entered the offices of her attorney.
