Lindsay as Marilyn

Lindsay Lohan appears like she's never been seen before in the Spring Fashion issue of New York magazine on stands today.

In an exclusive photo portfolio by Bert Stern, the same photographer who shot the original "Last Sitting" six weeks before Marilyn Monroe was found dead due to an apparent overdose in 1962, Lohan recreates the famous series of photos down to a tee. From the lighting and the shellacked blonde wig to Lohan's willingness to appear in little more than a chiffon scarf, the photos were shot on Feb. 5 at the Hotel Bel-Air. Telling the magazine that she was comfortable with the nudity, although admitting she had done "250 crunches" the night before the shoot, Lohan explained why it was so easy to recreate the well-known photos. "I didn't have to put much thought into it. I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that ever going to come up? It's really an honor."

No stranger to scandal herself, Lohan calls Monroe's suicide "tragic" and tells the magazine, "You know, it's also tragic what just recently happened to someone else." When asked if she was referring to Heath Ledger, she answered, "They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to somone." Adding, "...I sure as hell wouldn't let it happen to me."
