LOS ANGELES, Calif. --Johnny Depp won’t be watching the latest installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, at least not in 3-D.
The actor revealed Maria Menounos at the junket for “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” that he ‘s unable to see the new Disney film in all of its 3-D glory.
“I always find it difficult to watch myself and my excuse this time is that I actually can’t,” the actor said. “I’m unable to see in 3-D. I can’t – my eyes don’t see in 3-D. I have a weird eye.
“It just doesn’t work. I’ve never – might come as a surprise to you – but, I’ve never seen anything normally,” Johnny continued. “As normal people, you know, cause one of my eyes doesn’t see very much.”
And with reports that Disney is looking to make two more “Pirates” movies – presumably also in 3-D – it appears the star won’t be able to watch those either.
“If they keep doing them 3-D you know…I don’t know, I just, you know,” he told Maria.
“I’m always uncomfortable watching myself,” he continued. “I feel much more at ease just experiencing the process, going through that and then just letting it go… it becomes somebody else’s dilemma not mine.”
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” hits theaters on May 20.
