Oprah Winfrey may be the Queen of All Media, but she’s been dethroned byLady Gaga on Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 list!
This year’s Celebrity 100 list is all about the Gaga, who won the top spot with the Monsterous $90 million she raked in over the past 12 months. The mag also counts in her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers. Although Op made $290 million last year, the woman doesn’t tweet much.
“Lady Gaga beat Oprah this year because of her social media power. She can use Twitter and Facebook to work the ‘little monsters’ into a frenzy that leads to record sales and media attention. She’s the best example of how celebrities will need to manage their careers in the coming years,” said Forbes editor Dorothy Pomerantz.
In third place is pop pipsqueak Justin Bieber, with $53 million, followed by U2and piano man/royal wedding guest Elton John.
But don’t for a second think Oprah didn’t go out of the top spot with a bang. On Tuesday, she filmed a celebrity-studded two-part special that will air before her final show May 25.
More than 20,000 people sat in the audience of Chicago’s United Center whileTom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Josh Groban, Madonna, Beyonce,Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and scorned wife Maria Shriver were just some of the celebs who heaped loads of love on Oprah.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this,” Oprah told the audience. “Thank you for taking me to a place that’s beyond joyous.”
