In a heartbreaking turn of events, actor Tim Robbins has endured the death of not one but both parents in less than two weeks.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that his mother, musician Mary Robbins, died suddenly of heart arrhythmia at home in Esteban Cantu, Mexico on Sunday at the age of 78. Just 12 days earlier, Gil Robbins, her husband of 59 years, passed away of prostate cancer at age 80.
Gil Robbins was a member of the 1960s folk band the Highwaymen. His wife Mary studied music at UCLA and was a pro performer in the 1950s. A survivor of colon cancer, she earned a bachelor's degree in holistic nutrition, she lent her time to a clinic in Mexico.
Mary "had a calm and cheerful demeanor, a sharp wit, a gentle spirit and a generous and loving heart," son Tim told the Associated Press.
She is survived by four children and four grandchildren.
